Children's Home - Betania

Hogar de Ninos Betania (Oruro)
In 2002 and the first part of 2003 Karin worked with Aija to serve as the liaison and financial manager for an orphanage in Oruro (a small town on the high plains). Today, Oruro receives their support directly from Norway thanks to some changes Aija and Vegar put in place during their trip during the summer of 2003. This new process has helped to streamline the process of receiving funds and is serving to more directly connect the supporters with the work in Oruro.

There are 14 children, ranging in age from three to 19, living at Betania. Jonathan has provided some consulting regarding the bid process and the layout of a recently added kitchen. The new kitchen is bigger and is made from brick to reduce the possibility of a fire spreading to the living quarters (the living quarters are build of wood).

Betania is the sister to Valle Hermoso in Cochabamba and in fact when VH was first started it carried the name, Betania II! You can click on any of the photo below to get a closer look at the children's home in Oruro.
